Kaca Mata Undang Kanser

 INFO: Penyesuaian Bentuk Muka

Ray Ban - History

Ray Ban Malaysia | Sunglasses ShopRay Ban is an American manufacturer of sunglasses, founded in 1937 by Bausch & Lomb.[1] They were introduced for the United States Army Air Corps. In 1999, Bausch & Lomb sold the brand to the Italian Luxottica Group for a reported $640 million.[2]

Ray Bans were first created in 1936. The idea of Ray Bans began some years earlier when Lieutenant John A. Macready returned from a balloon flying adventure and complained that the sun had permanently damaged his eyes. He contacted Bausch & Lomb asking them to create sunglasses that would provide protection and also look elegant. On May 7, 1937, Bausch & Lomb took out the patent.[3]

The prototype, known as Anti-Glare, had an extremely light frame weighing 150 grams. They were made of gold-plated metal with green lenses made of mineral glass to filter out infrared and ultraviolet rays. Pilots in the United States Army Air Corps immediately adopted the sunglasses.[3] The army had intentions to have sunglasses that would protect the soldiers from the rays of the sun but yet still have an elegant look. [4]

The Ray Ban Aviator became a well-known style of sunglasses when General Douglas MacArthur landed on the beach in the Philippines in World War II, and photographers snapped several pictures of him wearing them. Ray Bans were quickly seen outside of just the army. In 1937, Ray Ban made their first patent on the Ray Ban Aviator sunglasses.

Ray Bans quickly gained popularity through other wars and even made a debut in the movies. In 1952, Ray Ban created another style, the Ray Ban Wayfarer. The difference with these sunglasses were the plastic frames. This design of the Wayfarer glasses became very popular with the public. The Wayfarer sunglasses were seen on movie stars, TV stars, and musicians. [5] Ray Ban still remains a top designer in the sunglasses industry with their constant change in color, frames, and lenses.

Ray Ban - Aviator
Ray Ban Malaysia | Ray Ban Sunglasses SalesAviator sunglasses are a style of sunglasses that were developed by Bausch & Lomb and branded as Ray Ban. They are characterised by dark, often reflective lenses having an area two or three times the area of the eyeball, and metal frames with bayonet earpieces or flexible cable temples that hook behind the ears.

The original design featured G-15 tempered glass lenses, i.e., neutral gray, transmitting 20% of incoming light. The large lenses are not flat but slightly convex. The design attempts to cover the entire range of the human eye and prevent as much light as possible from entering the eye from any angle.[1]

Aviator sunglasses, or "pilot's glasses", were originally developed in 1936 by Ray Ban for pilots to protect their eyes while flying. Aviators were given their name due to their original intention of protecting aviator's eyes. Ray Ban began selling the glasses to the public a year after they were developed.

The Aviator became a well-known style of sunglasses when General Douglas MacArthur landed on the beach in the Philippines in World War II. Newspaper photographers snapped several pictures of him wearing them.[2] The Aviator sunglasses were also issued and found popular in the French Army.

The aviator style has been popular since the 1960s, but became even more so following pop culture references of Paul McCartney,[3] Ringo Starr,[3] Freddy Mercury, and later use by celebrities in films like Top Gun, where Val Kilmer, Anthony Edwards, and Tom Cruise sported them (sales of the brand rose 40% in the 7 months following the release of the film).[4]

Ray Ban aviators were also prominently featured in films Cobra starring Sylvester Stallone and To Live and Die in L.A. - where two main characters are seen wearing them throughout the film.

In addition, famous Russian tenor Alexander Gradsky always wears Ray Ban aviators with dark blue [5][6] or clear[7] prescription lenses.

Ray Ban - Wayfarer

Ray Ban Wayfarer | Ray Ban Sunglasses MalaysiaRay-Ban Wayfarer sunglasses have been manufactured by Ray Ban since 1956, when their design was a revolutionary break from the metal eyewear of the past. Wayfarers enjoyed early popularity in the 1950s and 1960s.

Though the sunglasses had faded from the limelight by the 1970s, a lucrative 1982 product placement deal brought Wayfarers to their height of popularity. Since the mid-2000s, the sunglasses have been enjoying a revival.

Wayfarers are sometimes cited as the best-selling design of sunglasses in history[1][2] (although Ray Ban Aviators have also been credited with this achievement[3]) and have been called a classic of modern design[4] and one of the most enduring fashion icons of the 20th century.[5]

Design and early popularity

Wayfarers were designed in 1952 by American optical designer Raymond Stegeman,[6][7][8] who procured dozens of patents for Bausch and Lomb, Ray Ban's parent company.[9] The design was a radically new shape, "a mid-century classic to rival Eames chairs and Cadillac tail fins."[7] According to design critic Stephen Bayley, the "distinctive trapezoidal frame spoke a non-verbal language that hinted at unstable dangerousness, but one nicely tempered by the sturdy arms which, according to the advertising, gave the frames a 'masculine look.'"[7]

Wayfarers, which took advantage of new plastic molding technology,[4][7] marked the transition between a period of eyewear with thin metal frames and an era of plastic eyewear.

Ray Ban Malaysia | Ray Ban Sunglasses SalesAfter Wayfarers' heyday in the 1950s and 1960s, sales declined.[7] Though Wayfarers' cultural popularity was boosted in 1980, particularly due to classic film The Blues Brothers, only 18,000 pairs were sold in 1981,[10] and Wayfarers were on the verge of discontinuation.[11]

The sunglasses' fate was reversed, however, when in 1982 Ray-Ban signed a $50,000-a-year deal with Unique Product Placement of Burbank, California, to place Ray Bans in movies and television shows.[10]

Between 1982 and 1987, Ray-Ban sunglasses appeared in over 60 movies and television shows per year;[10] Ray-Ban's product placement efforts have continued through 2007.[12] Tom Cruise's wearing of Wayfarers in the 1983 movie Risky Business marked the beginning of a Wayfarers phenomenon; 360,000 pairs were sold that year.[10]

By 1986, after appearances in Miami Vice, Moonlighting, and The Breakfast Club, sales had reached 1.5 million.[10] Wayfarers rose to popularity among musicians, including Roy Orbison, Michael Jackson, Billy Joel, Johnny Marr,[13] Blondie's Debbie Harry,[13] Madonna, Elvis Costello,[13] and members of U2,[13] and among other celebrities such as Jack Nicholson,[14] and even Anna Wintour.[15] Bret Easton Ellis' fiction often name-dropped references to Wayfarers,[16] and Don Henley's 1984 song "The Boys Of Summer" contained the lyric "You got that hair slicked back and those Wayfarers on, baby".

Canadian pop artist Corey Hart music video Sunglasses At Night shows the artists wearing Wayfarers in darkness. Ray-Ban's Wayfarer offerings expanded from two models in 1981 to more than 40 models by 1989,[17] and Wayfarers were the decade's sunglasses of choice.[18]
